Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' It's our first episode of 2022 and we're kicking it off with a bunch of video game chit chat that Kevin, John, & Randall got into before recording last week's Holiday Episode! We get into all sorts of goodies, including our fears of what Nintendo is going to do with all of our digital Switch purchases in the next generation, the retro homebrew scene, the Wii U, Genshin Impact...we're jam-packed this week, so let's get things rolling!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We're getting one more 'core' episode in this year before the calendar rolls over into 2022, and Kevin is squeaking in his resolution game just in the nick of time, so let's get right into it... John gets things started this week with the very recently released Babble Royale—a super fresh take on the genre where John can finally hold his own! From there, Kevin digs into Jump Jerboa, another brand new indie that just hit the mobile app stores! Randall has also been dipping his toes into the latest entry to the Cruis'n franchise on Nintendo Switch, and he's been having an absolute Blast! After that, John spends some time in the realm of idle games, as he dives back into Clicker Heroes thanks to an ongoing conversation in the Discord, and follows that up with some thoughts on Universal Paperclips. Finally, Kevin squeezes in his 2021 resolution under the gun, and finally fires up Hyper Light Drifter and, while you certainly don't need to hear it from us...this game is freaking awesome!!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' Before we get to the usual chit chat this week, Kevin kicks things off with a handful of multiplayer games that he's been digging into over the past couple of weeks—including an awesome couch co-op session with DJ, and finally popping the latest WarioWare into the Nintendo Switch! After that, Kevin and Randall dip into some of our musical background(s), look ahead to some of the games from Nintendo we might get to see in 2022, the game Kevin worked on at the start of the pandemic, and much, much more...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. John and Kevin are back in the saddle this week and we've got plenty of gaming goodness to get to, so let's get right into it... Kevin gets things started with a couple of incredible indie shmups, Spectrum Forces and Viral Reload, both of which he's had a really tough time putting down lately! John springs for Nintendo's new 'Online Expansion Pass' and digs into the new Animal Crossing DLC, along with some of the new Nintendo 64 additions—we'll have to get Randall's thoughts on the Genesis selections soon! Finally, Kevin wraps things up with a couple of puzzle-focused games that he's also been hooked on as of late, Nojong and Evertried—the former, a brick-dropping + Mahjong hybrid, and the latter, a strategy-heavy roguelike with some supremely well-balanced mechanics.

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' Kevin kicks things off with a trio of awesome indie platformers that he's been absolutely loving lately, before he and John get into the chit chat—covering everything from modular synthesizers to more 'Tony Hawk Talk' ™. We also give a shoutout to our weekly indie game book club, PP Potpourri, in which we've been featuring 5 'free to play' games on our itch.io page every week, including Necrow Co., which Kevin gives a shoutout to this week!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We've got the trio back in the studio again and we're getting things started with the 'go-to' games that John & Randall have been firing up lately before we get into the meat of the episode... From there, Kevin and Randall play a little tug-of-war when discussing Mario's first couple of romps on Nintendo's monochrome handheld—how much does nostalgia play into the enjoyment of these Game Boy classics? After that, Randall crosses off his resolution game from last year's holiday episode, as he moves on from Ori and the Blind Forest over to its sequel, Will of the Wisps. Finally, we stick around in metroidvania-land and discuss Samus' latest adventure on Nintendo Switch, Metroid: Dread, which we've all been digging into...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' Kevin kicks things off with a couple of Wario-inspired indie platformers that he's been digging into lately, as he and Randall gear up to chat about some of the garlic-loving mischief maker's handheld adventures on future episodes of the podcast. He also takes a few minutes to shout out Rubris, an incredibly addictive arcade-puzzler from one of the members of Team Bugulon. From there, we're all over the map—chatting about everything from the Ouya and Neo Geo, to the wonderful works of Hiyao Miyazaki!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We're back with the trifecta this week, along with all sorts of gaming goodness, so let's dig right in... Kevin kicks things off with Damocles Gaze, yet another incredibly addictive game from PUNKCAKE Délicieux. After that, John takes us over into tactics territory with the fifth, and latest installment in the Mercenaries Blaze franchise. Kevin also takes a little more time to gush about Dungeon Deathball, which has officially left Early Access after we had the game's designer, Matt Glanville, on the podcast recently. From there, John moves us over into a discussion about Genshin Impact, tackling everything from its predatory practices to its impeccable gameplay. And lastly, Randall closes us out after he finally feels *okay enough* to jump back into The Last of Us: Part II after nearly two years of living through this current pandemic...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' Kevin kicks things off with a TON of indie gaming goodness before we get into the banter this week, with a handful of rapid-fire recommendations—all of which are *NEW* releases!?! After that, John & Randall join the conversation and we're ALL over the map this week! From complaining about Nintendo's never-ending nonsense when it comes to just about anything fan-made, to raving about our friends' band, Oscar Bait—we've got you covered from just about every angle!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. This week, John & Kevin have a handful of awesome indies to highlight, alongside an updated all-time classic that slaps just as hard today as it did way back in 1999...so let's get right into it! First things first, John kicks things off with Murder by Numbers, which was his 'resolution game' from last year's holiday episode. John loves him a good Nonogram, but does this game add enough to the tried and true formula? After that, Kevin takes some time to shoutout a few incredibly expressive platformers that we've been checking out alongside our friends in the Indie Game Collective. Finally, we wrap things up by heaping more praise onto the fantastic THPS 1+2 HD remake, which John has been spending countless hours with on the Nintendo Switch!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' This week, we're looking into the future with a conversation from the pre-roll of an upcoming core episode of the podcast—and we're ALL over the map!?! But before that, Kevin gives a quick shout out to a couple of awesome games from Wired Dreams Studio. And in the interest of synchronicity, we briefly mention our indie game book club, 'PP Potpourri'—as this is both the 7th week of the club, and also the 7th edition of SIFTC!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We've got a whole bunch of video game goodness to gab about this week—and we're even semi-timely for a change, haha—so let's get right into it... We kick things off with Goodboy Galaxy, a *brand new* metroidvania coming to the Game Boy Advance, cartridge and all! We hang around on the classic Nintendo handheld for a little while longer, as Randall recently polished off Metroid Fusion, now he's finding more & more time to play games again, post-graduation!! :D From there, Kevin & John get to take yet another stab at virtual reality, this time finally getting to see what Half-Life: Alyx is all about over at our buddy Mikee's place... Finally, John closes things out with a duo of photography games, first sharing some more thoughts on New Pokémon Snap after it has received a free update or two, followed by a glowing endorsement for Umurangi Generation—a 'current-apocalyptic' first-person adventure off the beaten path!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. This week, we are once again joined by the one-and-only Matt Glanville! We've raved about pretty much all of Matt's games on the podcast in the past, and it is truly an honor to have him on the show again, this time for a more in-depth discussion about his own work! We chat about everything from the quick & punchy arcade action of Matt's first three indie games, to his upcoming turn-based tactical sports game, Dungeon Deathball... And we certainly don't stop there! Half-Life 2, virtual reality, marketing your own games, financial uncertainty, and so on...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. This week, we are fortunate enough to be joined by yet another indie game developer, Matt Glanville! We've raved about pretty much all of Matt's games on the podcast in the past, and it is truly an honor to have him on the show to talk about some video games—and he'll be on again next week for a more in-depth discussion about his work! In the meantime, Matt & Kevin have both been playing some SNKRX and admiring its deep, but simple design—and have a strikingly similar experience with the game. And while we're on the topic of shmups, Matt also fired up Alien Death Mob after we mentioned it a few weeks ago on the podcast...he's getting his butt kicked too! From there, we talk about a couple of incredibly charming, and deceptively tricky, retro-inspired platformers—Miles & Kilo, which we've raved about on the podcast before, and Mekabolt, which is the first game Kevin has actually 'beat' in quite some time! Speaking of things we've discussed on the podcast before, Matt is sinking his teeth into the Picross S Series that John has sang the praises of many times before. He's also been getting some casual gaming in with a little one of his own, and getting some mileage out of some cute & playful Nintendo Switch demos with his son! Finally, we wrap things up with Snakebird Primer after bringing up the game's far more difficult successor a few weeks back on the podcast, as Kevin & Matt seemingly had the same experience with the original game.
