Pursuing Pixels

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  It's our first proper 'numbered' episode with Kevin back at his new home base in Michigan, and we've got all of the usual suspects in the house this week!
Kevin and Randall kick things off when some thoughts on the recently released Pocky & Rocky Reshrined — and also dig into the other games in the series, as well as some of the other retro 'reboot' releases from ININ Games.
From there, John has been sinking his teeth into Cozy Grove, a game that our pal Megan Carnes talked about way back when she joined us on the podcast.
After that, Kevin finally puts some earnest effort into starting up A Link Between Worlds on the 3DS — which of course, leads to some light A Link to the Past discussion, as well!
Finally, Randall closes things out with a little more NBA 2K23 talk, as he makes his way deeper into the 'MyCareer' mode.

After a short preamble about Splatoon 3, John turns towards another recently released title from The Big N and shares some more detailed thoughts on Xenoblade Chronicles 3, now that Randall is here for some JRPG talk!
After that, Kevin and Randall dive into some neo retro gaming action — first discussing the 80s arcade-inspired Donut Dodo, before pouring some more love on The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors, and the other 'reboot' remakes from ININ Games.
Lastly, Randall wraps things up with some thoughts on the latest installment of the NBA 2K franchise, NBA 2K23, as he finally takes a plunge into the 'my career' mode for the first time!

After teasing it just a little bit last time around, we kick things off by digging into a couple of the latest games to come to Netflix — POINPY and Into the Breach — both of which have been monopolizing a lot of our time, as of late!
From there, John moves on to a trio of games that have also had his attention in recent weeks, none of which happen to be Elden Ring, but all of which are AAA experiences — and shares a handful of gripes, as well!

From there, Kevin takes us into 2D platforming territory and digs into the Plague of Shadows campaign — and the Shovel Knight series in general — after it won a recent poll amongst our monthly supporters!
Finally, John wraps things up by polishing off the home stretch of his Xenoblade Chronicles 2 save file, in preparation for the recently released third game in the series — and also delves into some various thoughts on JRPGs as an artform in general.

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  We're running as a duo once again this week, swapping Randall in for John from the last recording session.  We're jam-packed as always though, so let's get right into it...
We kick things off with a bit of an Xbox tangent before Randall shares some closing thoughts on the remainder of his time with Kirby's latest adventure on the Nintendo Switch.  And while we're talking games from Hal Laboratory on Switch, Kevin gives a shoutout to BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! after almost finishing up the co-op campaign with DJ recently.
